My 30-something friends that have navigated divorce, or made huge career changes have referred to it as, “burning your life down”.
Which, if I can paint a visual picture, means to light a match, toss it over your life and then slow-mo, (Beyonce hair blowing in the wind- obvs) through the smoke, without looking back.
In simple terms, it involves making the often unpopular decision to completely disrupt your life in order to realign it with a path that prioritizes your own needs and desires.
2023 was without a doubt the hardest year of my 30’s. I haven’t been this unsure of myself since the quarter-life crisis of 2005 (which I very ironically got to revisit on-stage last year with FAILURE LAB).
